Who this is for

ATSpro is built for agencies whose business is part placement, part consulting. The classic shape: you place candidates into permanent roles, and you also run engagements where one or more consultants deliver work for a client over weeks or months.

If consulting is your only business and you have hundreds of consultants, a dedicated PSA tool like Projectworks or Scoro will go deeper than ATSpro on resource scheduling and project costing. If you run recruitment alongside consulting and want both in one platform — without paying for two systems and reconciling between them — ATSpro is built for that.

Three engagement types, one platform

Bill the way each engagement is sold — not whatever your tooling forces you into

T&M
Time & Materials

Bill by hours/days from approved timesheets. Use when scope is open-ended or evolving — typical for long-running consulting and staffing engagements.

Approved timesheets group into one invoice per project per billing period. Expenses attach automatically. Margin = charge − pay across all consultants on the project.

Work Package
Fixed-fee with milestones

Bill against named milestones with due dates and amounts. Use when scope and total fee are agreed up-front — typical for discrete project deliverables.

Milestones can be invoiced individually as you complete them. Rebaseline mid-project without losing the audit trail of what was originally agreed.

Retainer
Scheduled monthly billing

Bill on a fixed cycle (typically monthly). Use for ongoing advisory or fractional engagements — typical for compliance, fractional CTO, or strategy retainers.

Optional milestone gates inside a retainer cycle for engagements that mix scheduled billing with deliverable signoffs.

Everything a consulting + recruitment desk needs

One platform. £49/user/month. No add-ons.

Quotes with e-signature

Build a quote from line items — roles, quantities, charge rates, expenses — pull rates from a client rate card, send by email, and let the client sign on a branded portal. No DocuSign licence. Accepted quotes convert directly into projects.

Three engagement types

T&M for time-and-materials with timesheet billing. Work Package for fixed-fee with milestones. Retainer for scheduled cycles. The right billing model for the engagement, not a one-size-fits-all hammer.

Milestone-based billing

For Work Package projects, split contract value across milestones with names, due dates, and amounts. Marking a milestone complete drafts an invoice automatically — picking up unbilled project expenses on the way through.

Time and Materials invoicing

Approved consultant timesheets accumulate within your billing period (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) and roll up into one invoice per project per period — line item per consultant, expenses included.

Consultant assignments

Each consultant on a project has a charge rate (what the client pays) and pay rate (what you pay them). The difference is margin, tracked automatically. Versioned rates so mid-project rate changes do not retroactively rewrite invoices.

Margin reporting

Top and bottom leaderboards, margin distribution histograms, and breakdowns by client and engagement type — all rolled up automatically. Negative margin auto-flagged on the Risks tab. No reconciliation against a separate finance system.

RAG status updates

Send weekly status reports to the client — health (Green/Amber/Red), summary, details, next steps, risks. AI-drafted from recent timesheets, milestone progress, and project activity. Edit before publishing.

Pipeline → Projects forecast

Bridge between sales and delivery. BD pipeline cards weighted by stage probability give you a real revenue forecast. The "Won, not converted" KPI surfaces handover gaps so deals do not silently die between sales and delivery.

What you don't need to run alongside ATSpro

Most consulting + recruitment hybrids end up running 4–6 separate tools to cover what ATSpro does in one. Here's what you can drop:

A separate PSA
ATSpro covers projects, milestones, T&M, margin reporting
DocuSign for quotes
Built-in branded e-signature portal
A spreadsheet for margin
Auto-calculated from charge & pay rates
Manual revenue forecasts
Pipeline → Projects forecast handles it
A separate timesheet app
Worker portal, client approval, magic links
A separate invoicing tool
Auto-drafted from milestones or timesheets

Consulting agency FAQs

Does ATSpro support consulting projects and Statement of Work engagements?
Yes. ATSpro has a full projects layer built into the recruitment CRM, designed for agencies that run consulting or staffing engagements alongside placements. It supports three engagement types: Time and Materials with timesheet-driven invoices, Work Package with milestone billing for fixed-fee engagements, and Retainer with scheduled billing cycles. Each project has consultant assignments with charge and pay rates, RAG status updates to the client, project expenses with markup or pass-through policies, and a 10-tab project reports hub covering portfolio health, margin by client, revenue recognition, budget burn-down, and consultant utilisation. Quotes flow through a sign-portal, and accepted quotes convert directly into projects.
How does milestone-based fixed-fee project billing work in ATSpro?
For Work Package engagements, you split the contract value across milestones — each with a name, due date, and amount. Marking a milestone complete generates a draft invoice automatically for that amount, picking up any unbilled project expenses for the same project on the way through. The invoice lands in Finance for review before it is sent. Milestones are versioned, so you can rebaseline a project mid-flight without losing the audit trail of what was originally agreed.
How does Time and Materials billing work for consultant assignments?
Time and Materials projects bill from approved consultant timesheets. Each consultant assignment has a charge rate (what the client pays) and a pay rate (what you pay the consultant). The difference is margin, tracked automatically. Approved timesheets accumulate within your billing period — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — and roll up into one invoice per project per period, with a line item per consultant. Late timesheet submissions land on the next open invoice automatically rather than backdating.
What is the Pipeline → Projects forecast?
It is the bridge between sales and delivery. The forecast pulls Quote totals from BD pipeline cards, weights them by stage probability, and surfaces three KPIs: committed revenue (active projects), weighted pipeline (BD value × probability), and won-not-converted (Won deals that have not yet been turned into projects — the handover gap). The per-stage rollup chart tells you whether your pipeline is concentrated in early stages (thin near-term forecast) or late stages (imminent conversions).
Does ATSpro track project margin and consultant utilisation?
Yes. Margin is computed as charge minus pay across every consultant on every project, with leaderboards for top and bottom performers, distribution histograms, and breakdowns by client and engagement type. Utilisation is tracked on a per-consultant week-by-week grid, RAG colour-coded so under-utilised consultants on the bench and over-utilised consultants at risk of burnout are both visible at a glance. The Allocation grid shows the same layout but forward-looking — useful when sales asks whether you have capacity for a new engagement.
Do you have to pay extra for the projects feature?
No. Projects are part of the standard ATSpro plan at £49 per user per month. There is no per-project licence, no separate consulting tier, and no add-on for milestone billing or margin reporting. The same recruiters who use ATSpro for placements get the projects layer included.
How does ATSpro compare to a dedicated PSA tool like Projectworks or Scoro?
ATSpro is a recruitment CRM with a built-in projects layer for agencies that run consulting alongside placements — not a dedicated Professional Services Automation tool. PSA tools like Projectworks, Scoro, and Kantata are purpose-built for consulting firms with hundreds of consultants and have deeper resource scheduling, detailed task-level time tracking, and accounting integration than ATSpro offers. If consulting is your only business and you need full PSA capability, those tools may suit you better. If you run recruitment and want consulting projects in the same platform alongside your placements, ATSpro is built for that.
Can quotes be sent for client signature without DocuSign?
Yes. ATSpro has a built-in quote sign-portal. You build a quote from line items, send it to the client by email, and the client signs on a branded web page by typing their name or drawing a signature. The signed quote, audit trail, and timestamp are captured automatically. No DocuSign licence is required, and no PDF is sent back and forth.
Is there a free trial that includes the projects feature?
Yes — 14 days, full access, no credit card required. You can create projects, send quotes for signature, set up milestones, run consultant assignments, generate timesheet-driven invoices, and use every project report from day one. After the trial it is £49/user/month with no long-term contracts.
